The grievances of the American people before the outbreak of the American War of Independence were very similar to those of the Upper and Lower Canadians before the rebellions. Boston Massacre: People rioted over new taxes in 1776 and the British forces killed 3 people. This is Similar to the Montreal voters riot.

East India Company was given the exclusive right to sell its tea directly to AMerican consumers without having to pay the English Export tax.
