The Necessitities of War War is a conflict between two groups within the same country. No one looks forward to war but it is necessary in order to protect our country from other nations trying to take our land. According to Mr. Remarque a president does not become famous unless a war is fought during their term in office (Remarque 439). Most leaders of nations rise to power because of their bravery during a war (Remarque 439). The purpose of the military is to train men and women to protect our country. They ensure peace at home and to prevent other nations from trying to take our land. These people are highly trained in case a war would break out they would put their life on the line for the good of the country. Wars may turn ordinary men into soldiers by issuing them a rifle and a backpack (Remarque 436). If they are killed during battle they become heroes to their famlies and the nation (Pirandello 434). The military leaders who lead our country to victory also beocome heroes (Remarque 439). They gain fame and fortune as a result of their bravery during the war. They rise to power as a result of their bravery during the war. Wars are sometimes fought for the wrong reasons. If the political leaders of two nations went to war for their own benefit would cause the soldiers on both sides to lose hope. These political leaders do not care how many lives they must sacrifice in order to achieve their goal. The soldiers on both sides have the same fear of death (Remarque 447). They sometimes give up because the see neither sides as winning but having a lot of casualties on both sides (Anonymous 414). They see the only way out of the war is to be wounded or killed (Anonymous 414). Wars are necessary but they can go out of control as a result of a leader wanting to conquer another country not caring how many lives that it takes to achieve the goal. War was not meant for the personal gain of one person but for the good of the entire nation.
