Quest for Macbeth
1:1 No, the people of Shakespeare?s time did not speak the way that he did in his poems and plays, but he did contribute greatly to the development of the English language.
1:2 Shakespeare used his ideas to shape the attitudes od millions of people throughout the world.
3:1 Duncan I of Scotland, born in1001 and ascended the throne at the age of thirty-three after killing his grand-father Malcolm II. He was a spoiledand over zealous young man whose reign was wrought with fail.
3:2 Macbeth was Duncan?s cousin and Lord of Moray.
3:3 Macbeth became the king of Scotland by over taking Duncan with the aid od some other lords.
3:4 Macbeth did much for Scotland in his 17 years reign. Macbeth reign was ended when he was defeated by Malcolm Canmore.
4:1 Shakespeare wrote Macbeth because he wanted a reaction from the Kings who used to fall asleep during plays. Also it was to honor the King of Scotland.
4:2 The play has many direct events to James I. The fact that the play deals with treachery and deceit is due to the constant attempts to assassinate James I.
4:3 One of the reasons Macbeth might start out as the Thane of Glamis is because James I was held hostage by this very Thane. The Thane?s wife was a reported witch whose meddling caused the delay of James? marriage. Another conspiracy was by one of his favorites, Lennox, Lennox used and manipulated thinking to fill his own pockets.
6:1 The three points that led to Mabeth?s downfall is that of the three prophecies the witches told him that he was to be the Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glamis, and King of Scotland.
7:1 The internal battle that Macbeth faces is the thought of murder.
7:3 Macbeth struggled with the temtation to kill the king because he was no murder, but a warrior who goes into battle to fight for his king.
