Online Roleplaying Rules Ver 2.1 (character Creation) Essay, Research Paper
Welcome
Welcome to the Thiatre de More and our game of Vampire: The Past Returned in VP. Within this text you will find the ways to create a character for the game and how to submit yourself to engage in the game. If you seek more information on the Kindred a link named Vampire Homepage in the Thiatre will take you to a very imformitive site
A little background on the game. We are currently running a game intermingled with both the Modern Day and Dark Ages campeign. The Thiatre de More and the lands of Knarl hold as grounds affected by the powers of Temporis causing it to be ripped back into time allowing the lands to fall under the old ways. Within the walls of the Thiatre a similar to a Dark Ages game takes place the time being similar to 1237 ad. Here the game strugles with oppression from the Camarilla, Sabbat, Inquisition, and Baali.
Character Creation
The first step to joining in with the game is to create a character. This text will leed you step
by step in creating a Kindred within the Thiatre de More. As you create your character write out the
information on a TXT file to send to the ST’s and to keep as a reffrence for yourself. A blank character
sheet can be found at the end of the character creation portion, simply cut and paste the sheet onto another TXT
Step 1: Chosing your clan
A vampire is a vampire no matter what. But like humans the Kindred separate themselves into
groups called clans. Each clan has their own ways of looking at life (or unlife) as well as their own set of
clan strength weeknesses and in clan disciplines (powers of the Kindred). The first step in creating your
character is to chose your clan from the list provided. It is recomended for newer players to research the
clan or clans you are interested in playing.
The clans, their steriotype and their in clan Disciplines:
Assimites – The mysterious “Saracens” of the Middle East have perfected the art of the silent kill.
(Celerity, Obfuscate, Quietus)
Brujah (old clan) – Philosophers, scholars and warriors, the fractious “Zealots” persue their dream of a perfect society. (Celerity, Potence, Presence)
Catiff (not a clan) – The rare and luckless Canites with no clan are outcasts and disgraced. (any, except
Thaumaturgy)
Cappadocians – Seeking the wisdom of the grave, the “Graverobbers” call upon the spirits of the dead for
enlightenment. (Auspex, Fortitude, Mortis)
Followers of Set – Orriginally hailing from Egypt, the “Serpents” spread corruption and vice in their
wake. (Obfuscate, Presence, Serpentis)
Gangrel – Wanderers and rustics, the “Animals” are closer to the beasts of the forest than to any of their
Cainite kin. (Animalism, Forttude, Protean)
Lasombra (old clan) – Masters of darkness and shadows, the “Magisters” seek to controle mortal and vampiric society alike. (Dominate, Obtenebration, Obfuscate)
Malkavian (old clan)- Cursed with insanity, the “Madmen” enjoy surreal and disturbing insight. (Dominate,
Dementation, Obfuscate)
Nosferatu – Hideous beyond words, the ostracized “Lepers” are spies and informants without equal.
(Animalism, Obfuscate, Potence)
Ravnos – Wandering vagabonds and hucksters, the “Charlatains” gleefully practice their arts of deception
and theft. (Animalism, Chimerestry, Fortitude)
Toreador – Lovers of art and beauty, the “Artisans” freely indulge in their tastes for the aesthetic. (Auspex,
Celerity, Presence)
Tremere – A young and insular clan of wizards, the sorcercerous “Userpers” struggle to establish
themselves. (Auspex, Dominate, Thaumaturgy)
Tzimisci (old clan) – Terrible Slavic fleshcrafters, the “Fiends” mercilessly lord over their mortal subjects.
(Animalism, Auspex, Dominate)
Ventrue – Imperious and commanding, the “Patricians” consider it their duty to lead vampiric society.
(Dominate, Fortitude, Presence)
Brujah (new clan) – Respecting no authority and acknowledging no leaders, the “Rabble” consider themselves free (Celerity, Potence, Presence)
Lasombra (new clan) – Puppetmasters in the darkness, the Lasombra rule the Sabbat and controle the shadows. (Dominate, Obtenebration, Potence)
Malkavian (new clan) – Commonly perceaved to be insane, the “Kooks” possess an uncany vision and wisdom. (Auspex, Dominate, Obfuscate)
Tzimisci (new clan) – Called “Fiends” for good reason, the Tzimisci are noble yet cruelly inhuman. (Animalism, Auspex, Vicissitude)
When you chose your clan mark it down on your character sheet as well as the disciplines listed for the clan. for further information on your clans specific flaw please feel free contact an ST for assistance.
Step 2: Attributes
Your attributes designate where your strengths and weeknesses of your character. There are three catagories for your attibutes, Physical, Social, and Mental. Here you must make the choice of what catagory will be your primarry (good), your secondary (average), and your terteary (pour). Is your character more physical than social, is she more witty than georgious. First chose what catagory will be your primary attribute and distribute 7 points among the three attributes in that catagory. Next chose your secondary attribute and distribute 5 points among them. Finnaly chose your tertiary and distribute 3 points among them.
Sample:
Physical: (secondary)Social:(tertiary)Mental: (primary)
Strength – 2 (+1)Charisma – 1 (+1)Perception – 3 (+1)
Dexterity – 1 (+1)Manipulation – 1 (+1)Intelligence – 2 (+1)
Stamina – 2 (+1)Appearance – 1 (+1)Wits – 2 (+1)
(the +1 automatically is added to each character due to the character automatically having one point already in each attribute)
Step 3: Abilities
Abilities delinate what your character knows rather than what he is; they describe the things he has learned as opposed to the things he can naturally do. Three catagories of abbilities, Tallents (abilities gained through experience) Skills (abilities learned through training) and Knowledges (abilities learned through education), are again prioritised into primary, secondary and tertiary catagories. This time the primary catagory receaves 13 points, secondary 9 points and tertiart 5 points. Distribute your points among the abilities listed on the character sheet.
Step 4: Disciplines
Disciplines are the powers of the Kindred. Each clan has their own set of in clan Disciplines that come to them naturally through the liniage of their blood. You have five points to distribute among the in clan disiplines for your clan. Catiff having no clan have five points to distribute on any disciplines you wish (with the exception of Thaumaturgy)
List of Disciplines:
Animalism: Supernatual affinity with and control of animals.
Auspex: Extrasensory perception, awareness and premonitions.
Celerity: Supernatural quickness and reflexes.
Chimerstry: The ability to create illusions and halucinations.
Dementation: The ability to pass madness on to a victim.
Dominate: Mind controle practiced through the pearcing gaze.
Fortitude: Unearthly toughness, even to the point of resisting fire and sunlight.
Mortis: The supernatural power to controle the process of death.
Necromancy: The supernatural power to sommon and controle the dead.
Obfuscate: The ability to remain obscure and unseen, even in crowds.
Potence: The Discipline of physical vigor and strength.
Protean: Shapechanging – from growing claws to melding with the earth.
Quietus: the Assamites’ arts of the silent kill.
Serpentis: The reptilian, corruptive Discipline of the Followers of Set.
Thaumaturgy: The study and practice of sorcery.
Vicissitude: The Tzimisce art of flesh-crafting.
If you are in need of further explination of a discipline and its powers do not hesitate to ask an ST.
Step 5: Generation
A characters generation designates how far detached from Caine (the first vampire) he is. All players start out at 12th generation but that lvl can be lowered through the use of freebie points as explained later on in the character creation.
Step 6: Freebie points
At this point you have 20 points to distribute among any aspect of your character. Unfortunatly it is not as straightforward as it sounds. Each aria takes up a diffrent amounts of points to increase it one point. From the chart provided distribute your freebie points as you wish.
Freebie Points:Cost:
Attributes:5 per lvl
Abilities:2 per lvl
Disciplines:7 per dot (can purchase disciplines not desigated for your clan with freebie points)
Generation:3 to lower one generation (lowest generation possible is 6th)
Willpower:1 per lvl
Step 7: Blood and Willpower
Blood is the main part of a Kindred’s life. It is used to survive, activate certain disciplines, to heal, and to create proginy. The blood pool of a kindred designates how many points of blood a kindred can hold within them. From the chart below find your characters Generation and mark down what his blood pool is. It is esential that you keep track of your blood expendeture durring your gaming sessions. If you end up wittiling yourself down to one point of blood your character will enter a blood frnzy and will do absolutly anything to get what he needs, even if it meens striking down anyone in your way in an uncontroleable furry.
Willpower is esential for controling your character, expecially when you are in the need to resist urges and defending agenst the effects of Dominate, Dementaion and when using Thaumaturgy. Again from the list provided locate your characters Generation and mark down the # of willpower points you have on your sheet. You can purchase more willpower with freebie points but not more than the max lvl of willpower allowed for your generation.

Step 8: The Finishing Touches
At this point your character is compleated. If you wish you may create a history for your character to submit to the ST’s for them to further understand yoru character. Speek of where she was born, grew up. What she did for a living before she was embraced. Was her embrace passionate or to save your life. Information like this will assist both in understanding your character as well as for future storylines.
Step 9: Submiting your Character
Now that you have finished your character, come to the Thiatre and send your TXT file with your character sheet to any of the ST’s and finnaly present yourself to the Prince of the city to be acknowleged and to receave your Discipline, Attribute, and Ability Gestures.
Welcome to the Thiatre De More
