The book the Great Gatsby is a good book for students to read. I think that the book shows students that even if they have a dream it might not come true. This book also shows that even if you have almost achieved your goal it could be ruined by some one else. his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it (p. 187).

This book teaches that the harder that you work for your dream does not mean it will come true. Some people dedicate their selves to achieving their dreams. The problem some people have is that they work to hard to achieve their goals. This book teaches you to have other dreams to fall back on if you do not achieve you main goal in life. It can drive some one crazy if they set their goals to high and hard to achieve. He did not know that it was already behind him, some where back in the vast obscurity beyond the city, where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night (p. 187).

This book teaches that true lave is not always fair. Some students think that they are in love. They go to college and come back to see that what they thought was true love was just a phase. Some students try to hard to relive the past love they shared and the can ruin any relationship. Oh, you are too much (p. 139). I love you know-isn t that enough? I can t help what s past (P.140). I did love him once-but I loved you too (p.140).

This book shows how even if we believe in fairy tales. The real world is much different, every one wants to believe that the good guy wins. In the Great Gatsby tom is the bad guy. Gatsby tries hard to achieve his dream, but in the end tom crushes him. Tom tells Wilson that gatsby was the one who killed his wife. What did you say to Wilson that afternoon? (p. 187). I told him the truth ( p.187).

People in this world think that if they are innocent they will have no problems. In the book Wilson was innocent. He was a blonde, spirtless man, anaemic and faintly handsome. When he saw us a damp gleam of hope sprang into his light blue eyes (p.29). Tom saw this in Wilson and took advantage of him. In the real world, mutilative people take advantage of vulnerable people. I think that Fitzgerald wanted us to see that if we leave our selves open people will take advantage of us.

With all of these examples, Fitzgerald was trying to show us the harsh facts of real life. I think that Fitzgerald wants us to read the book and not just accept that dreams are hard to achieve. The last thing Fitzgerald wants us to do is give up, he wants us to achieve our goals. So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past (p.189). That is why I think students should read this book.
