During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, people grew into an aura of entertainment and art. Dissatisfied people wanted a change from the traditional classical art style. Thus, they set their own standards and painted formal and sentimental paintings that sometimes used realism. European countries built many of their countries into huge art pieces sparked with the form of painting called impressionism. Napoleon III and others converted ugly, destroyed cities into urban centers filled with beautiful artworks. In the 1890’s, the use of light and color were put further into paintings.

Postimpressionism was used on this type of style. Vincent van Gogh, a famous postimpressionist, created many astounding paintings with this technique. In his painting “Starry Night,” he uses light and color to show the sky filled with an enormous amount of fireworks. He uses swirling brush strokes and intense yellows, greens, and blues to form this painting of an “restless” sky. From these arts and changes, the world wasn’t just all industries, but also artistic.
