Does Hairstyle Affect Success In A Job Interview? Essay, Research Paper

Hypothesis: Hairstyle does have an affect on the success in a job interview because a person s hairstyle gives the employer an impression of the person s character and personality and employers decision may be affected by these impressions.

Method: Fifteen males between the ages of 25 and 30 with almost identical qualifications were asked to participate in this survey. They were put into 5 groups of 3 according to their hairstyles. Group 1 had normal, neat hair huts. Group 2 had their hair dyed in different colors. Group 3 had very long hair. Group 4 had their hair completely shaven. Group 5 had long hair, dyed in different colors. They were all asked to attend 3 separate job interviews.

Conclusion: According to this survey, people with normal, neat hairstyles have a better chance of succeeding in a job interview than those with colored, long or shaven hair, therefor hairstyle does have an effect on success in a job interview.

Criticism: This survey might not have been made accurate due to the fact that there were only 3 people with each hairstyle and a total of 15 people who participated in the survey. Results could have been different if there had been more people who participated in the survey. These results could also have varied depending on the personal preferences of the employer, who interviewed the survey volunteers.

Improvements: The survey could have been made more accurate if more people participated in the survey. If there were more interviews added in the survey the results could also have been made more accurate.
