Being chosen to visit Gotsu, Japan is a chance in a lifetime; therefore I feel the need to take the chance while I can. One of the reasons I would like to visit Gotsu is my influential love for learning about other countries. This isn t my first time traveling out of the country because I have been to Indonesia once and I loved the experience. Having a wide-open mind for friends, I am able to accept the differences between the culture of America and Japan.

Although I don t know as much as I would like about Gotsu itself, I think that Japan s culture would be interesting for me to experience. Their advancement in technology puts them in the top of the world with electronics, and their education standards are high. The bullet train is still a marvel to me because its great speeds and design are still wondered about in America. The beautiful Japanese Rose Gardens are of great interest to me. The time and great concentration the people put into them are valued by me because they spend so much of their time to beautify their homes. These are just some of the things that add to my curiosity and eagerness to see this country myself.

Another reason that I would like to visit this glorified country is that I love the affect that traveling has upon me. I ve traveled to Indonesia before, and have seen the great gaps between our cultures. When I visited Indonesia they were currently experiencing a food shortage, and the people were slowly starving themselves to great hunger. From that I have learned that I should take my possessions and material values with more respect because I was lucky compared many people around the world. I know that education is taken highly in Japan, and I respect that because I also try as hard as I can here in America. In visiting Japan, I hope that their schools will be one of the things I will be able to see.

If I am one of the lucky people to go to Japan, I think I will be able to interact very easily with the people there. Japanese seems like an interesting language, even though I know it is difficult to learn. But if others in Japan are eager to learn English, I d be glad to teach them. I love meeting new people and making new friends. Being part of the Swing Club, I dance with new people with ease, and now have new friends everywhere. Interaction with others should be no problem.

I would be gratified if I was chosen to visit Japan for the two-week period. Even though it means leaving my family behind for this little time, I think the experience of Japan is too much to compare. Keeping in mind there are others just as eager as me, I keep thinking that it will be my experience of a lifetime.
