The Simpsons Essay, Research Paper
Television has so many varieties of movies and shows. Shows that blend every type of emotion together in a single evening sitcom or one emotion in a Tuesday night movie. Basically I am the type of person that enjoys laughing at a good comedy series, one in particular. My favorite TV show is The Simpsons , one of thee longest running shows ever on the FOX network. After a good thought on it, I ve had to laugh the hardest from that show more in total then any other show ever. Despite that there are other shows that are funny and are other favorites, The Simpsons are just overall my pick, and for good reasons at that.
To begin with, I like cartoons for the simple reason that you can do a lot more things with cartoons then you can do with live acting. Thus this brings a larger variety of possibilities. Moreover, an imagination can be more put to justice with drawings, plus cartoons are just more funny looking. Unfortunately, most cartoons are directed more towards the younger audience, and use humor that really isn t all the appealing to an older audience. The Simpsons on the other hand have an adult humor and is just plain hilarious.
One of my other reasons would have to definitely be the fact that The Simpsons are still going on, and still make new episodes. It s already good enough to have a show that s funny, and to be on for as long as it has, but still having new episodes is great. This makes it possible to actually look forward to watching it more. And from the looks of it, I doubt that this series will be ending anytime soon, mainly because every time they make a new episode, it s about something that s going on currently. For example, let s say it s around Halloween, so they ll make a special episode about it, and there you go, another episode to watch. Every now and then they ll make a new one for no reason, which is good also. All in all, it adds to the lack of seeing a replay of the same episode in a short period of time. The larger the amount of episodes, the less times you ll see the same one again, which leads me to my third reason.
No one really likes seeing an episode they ve seen already, much less one they ve seen last week. Since The Simpsons have been running for so long, there are a tremendous amount of episodes. During it s first few seasons, The Simpons only came on on Sundays, then I believe they came on only Tuesdays and one point. Eventually, there was finally a good amount of episodes, and were now able to be televised, every day, twice. I believe now they actually show it three times a day during weekdays, but I m not sure. Anyway the point is that it ll take a month or more to see the same episode, and by the time you do, it will be funny again because it s been so long since you ve seen it. So the cycle goes on and on, mixed with new episodes, creating a series that doesn t look like it s fading away, and if anything, gets funnier every season.
Television sprouts a diverse selection of entertainment. There is virtually nothing you can t find someway or another via your TV. Ranging from educational programs, to cartoons and movies, to a game show that can win you millions, everyone can sit down and enjoy at least one thing from a TV, and I enjoy many. In any case, it all depends on the mood. One day I ll watch a sad movie, and need a funny cartoon to brighten things up, and brings you into its world. Everyone has at least once finish watching a boxing movie, and wanted pick a fight, or watched a war movie, and feel nationalistic. All the same, everyone can relate to TV, and how easily someone can find a favorite show or movie while switching a channel, and that, perhaps, could be one less half hour in your day, that you don t stress.
