Geography Of Poland
Poland is one of the largest countries in Central Europe.Poland can be divided broadly into three regions the lowland, the highlands, and the mountains. Poland was formed by the of Ice Age glaciers.Its land area total 312, 677 sqaure miles. The distance from the east to the west is 680 km. The southern part of the country is filled with moutains and hills. From the north tot the south is 790 km. Moutain that border Poland are Sudeten Mountains in the Southwest, Carpathian Mountains in the southeast and the rivers are Odra and Neisse in the the west. The Bug river is on the east.The Balitic Sea surrounds the country in the northeast. Thereare no really large lakes in Poland. The longest river is the Vistula . It rises in the Beskids and flows for 664 miles.
The climate in January all parts of the country avereage temperature are below frezzing point. In the western part os Poland the border areas are a little warmer in the winter than the east. The summer temperature are generally moderate. In Warsaw, Poland, their average temperature in January are 26.6 degress F and July avereage is 65.5 degrees F.
Some areas in the northern and central Poland have sandy soil. It is mixed in places with clay. The best soil is found in the south. Polands main mineral is coal. Mostly coal is found in the Upper Silesia. That is in the southwestern part of the country. Poland has some of he richest coal reserves in Europe. They also have sulphur, cooper, zinc, lead, and aluminum.
