College Admissions Essay, Research Paper
The bright blue paint chipped off the tarnished wooden siding. The glassy images were blurred, and their sills seemed to be decaying due to the large collections of dust. There was a young girl playing by herself in the unkempt front lawn. This dwelling always caught my attention; it attracted me in a peculiar way. Whenever I walked down my block, my awareness was drawn to this particular house. It s unappealing nature towered above the rest of the houses on Tuttle Street. Never judge a book by its cover. I soon realized the contents within this house were priceless.
We have a new student today, Mr. Kurys ecstatically said. She seemed familiar, but I couldn t pinpoint exactly why. It didn t matter to me anyway; I already had my group of friends.
Wait a minute . What s her name? That s impossible! I have never met another Justyna before. From that day on, I looked at this girl through a completely different perspective. Just because we had the same name, I began to pay a little more attention to her.
Before I knew it, two years passed and we were now in sixth grade. Justyna & Justyna BFF was written on practically anything we could think of. Her move from Catholic school to our small public school became a huge impact on the next few years of my life. I was always over her house, if she wasn t over mine. Having different classes was fine; we always managed to meet in the bathroom or by the water fountain to discuss all the cute boys we adored. We grew with each other to the point of becoming nearly inseparable.
Our eight-grade summer was a couple weeks away. Oh no! This couldn t possibly be true! Justyna was going to move. I felt like there was a divorce. She was leaving with one parent, and I was staying with the other. Together, we overcame this. The bond we had made was so strong, that we still managed to stay best friends. We realized that the move really wasn t as bad as it first seemed. She now lived about a ten-minute car ride away. That whole summer, we must ve lost about fifteen pounds from all of the bike riding we did just so we could see each other.
Now we are both seniors in high school. If you ask me where Justyna wants to go to college, I reply, Umm, actually, I m not sure. She has new friends now; friends that were with her that first day of high school, friends that attended that same sophomore social, those who stood by her during the dreaded oral reports, and the ones who were with her for some of the most important moments of her life.
Although I still receive a birthday card, a Christmas card, even that occasional phone call, I know things will never be the same. I have grown during these past years. I ve become closer with a variety of people. I diversified myself just like Justyna has. One thing still remains for sure. When I drive down my block, I see a renovated, sandstone colored house on the corner. That house now has different owners, and no longer are there two little Justyna s playing on that lawn. Through the closeness we shared, she has taught me the importance of friendship from an early age. I understood her feelings, We guided each other, and helped each other overcome many obstacles. Even though things have now changed, the love, the memories, and the bond we once had, will forever hold a place in my heart.
