progressiveismI am writing to you so that you will address the growing problem of the poor andhomeless in America. Although I m sure you are well aware of the problem, we, The NewProgressive Party, have different ideas about correcting it. Our first solution is forgovernment to regulate housing and utilities. If the government did this they could controlthe cost of housing as well as the cost of living. They could regulate it in such a way thatminimum wage employees would be able to afford it, therefore giving the homelesshomes, and the poor some extra cash. Another idea that we have is for the welfareprogram to be enhanced, working class people only need welfare to help them in-between

jobs, so the quantity should be increased and amount of money should be increased.Additionally, we believe that drugs play a major part in many peoples homelessness,therefore, if we eliminate the drug problem a large part of the homeless and poor problemwill disappear. In order to eliminate the drug problem government must get all of theaddicts into prisons, taking all the drugs with them because the demand for them will be inthe prisons. This will also eliminate many juveniles becoming involved with drugs. Wethank you for taking the time to read our letter and hope that you use our ideas.
