Jfk: A Hero For All Americans Essay, Research Paper

JFK: A Hero For All Americans John Fitzgerald Francis Kennedy was a sparkling president with alot of wonderful traits. He was committed to working towards his goals, was a strong leader, and was inciteful, and educated. John Kennedy was also a role model with strong moral values. Although he was young,he left a dynamic impact on America, and will be remembered as a great hero. One quality that John Kennedy possessed was his vigorous, hardworking determination. He wanted to help the citizens of America,as well as people of foreign countries. He set goals and was committed to acheiving them. During his presidency, Kennedy formed the Peace Corps,an Agency providing volunteers to furnish underdeveloped countrieswith needed manpower. He also started the Alliance for progress inLatin America to increase economic and social development. Kennedy further demonstrated his ambition when he launched the beginning of major advances of space exploration. He asked for Russian corporation and the combining of the U.S. and Soviet efforts in moon exploration. Under the commited PresidentKennedy, the United States accomplished a lot. Another heroic quality of John Kennedy was his couragousleadership. While Kennedy was president, Russia installed nuclear missiles in Cuba, not far from Flordia. Nuclearmissles in Cuba would have proved itself extremely dangerous, not only for Cuba, but for the United States as well. Kennedyrecognized this and ordered, firmly, that Russian remove itsmissles from Cuba. However, he was also respectful and thatreverence paid off, allowing talks for the TEST BAN TREATY tocontinue. The treaty was eventually signed in 1963; it eliminatedany further testing of nuclear devices in the air, space, or water. This whole issue was very tense and had Kennedy not handled it as wellas he did, it would have proved disasterous. John Kennedy was also very educated and incitful man. During his youth,Kennedy attended private schools. As he entered his college years he strived for knowledge. He graduated from Harvard in 1940, as well as attending, Princeton, Stanford, and a graduate school of business. John Kennedy

spent four years in the Navy and traveled in South America, taking memories and experiences with him. He was an author before his presidency, and was able to establish himself of very respectful reputation. He wrote and published two books: Why _England Slept_ and _Profiles in Courage.__Profiles in Courage_ won the Pulitzer Prize in 1957. Ironically, itwas a book about heros. During his presidency, the White House becamea gathering place of intellectuals, artists, and the creative. Theywere all invited by Kennedy. At a dinner recognizing American NobelPrize winners, Kennedy declared. ” This is the most extrodinarycollection of talent. . . that has ever been gathered together at the White House- with the possible exception of whenThomas Jefferson dined alone.” More of Kennedy’s heroic traits were his strong morals. In 1962 aman named James Madison registered in the University of Mississippi. His registration was not accepted because he was black. Kennedy, waiting equal rights for all, sent federal troops backed by National Guardsmento the university, forcing Madison’s registration to be accepted. Kennedyalso called for legislation suporting equal rights and offered an end to racial decrimination in federal housing. John Kennedy’s moral valuesalso became apparent through his family. He was the loving father of three children: Caroline, John Jr. (John-John), and Patrick, who died in infancy. Kennedy’s wife, Jaqualine Lee Bouvier-Kennedy, was known as thebrightest, most charming, and bueatiful first lady. They married in 1953,only 10 years before his tragic death. Everyone adored the young Kennedy family, their love and devotion, and they became idolized by the averageamerican family. One of the United States saddest memories is the painful picture of a widowed mother and her two young children standing beside their father’s coffin. Kennedy is considered one of our most admired presidents. His couragousleadership, devotion, insight and strong morals gave him the statures everyone admired. His death was shattering. He was so young and had been so worthy of the bright long life that had been waiting for him, that he went down in the history books as a complete hero. He is sadly missed and will never be forgotten.
