Brave New World Essay, Research Paper
English Essay – Brave New World I think we, like the characters in the book we are also conditioned to accept certain things in our lives without questioning them. The problem is it is very hard to identify them, how can we say what we are made to belive? Because if we are made to belive in it, we would not think that it is conditioning. It would take a outside person, like the salvage s (john) to tell us what we do that is influenced by society. Then again the salvage s are conditioned to belive in god, to behave a certain way. In other words, everyone is canditioned. Before embarking on my essay i tried to think of examples of ways we are conditioned, i searched the internet to see what others had to say about conditioning, i didn t find very much, maybe it s because one of the things we might have been conditioned to think is not to question everything. I found it very hard to say conditioning is bad, if there was no conditioning, life would be rather dull. Think this, a child askes her mom if there is a god, the mom, not wanting to condition the child says, i m sorry but you ll have to decide yourself. How will the child ever decide if everyone she ever meets answers her question without telling her. We make decisions by our gut feeling but i think the way we feel is influenced by the people and enviroment. We all know it s a fact that you are not born the way you are today, you have become what you are today because of the enviroment we grew up in. Is nt it known that a child needs guidence and advice? Is it possible to give them these things without haveing any influence in what kind of person she becomes? No, and therefore how could there ever be no conditioning. If this child grows up and is offered drugs, she says no. The answer does not reflect on her good judgment, it is the result of her conditioning. I feel that i cannot say wether we are over condioned and i have trouble identifying what we have been conditioned to do. But the results of my conditioning gives me the feeling that we are at or aproaching the point over over condioning, and i feel that we are conditioned at eveything. We are conditioned from what we want to eat to what kind of friends we make. Everything we ever will do is due to our own conditioning, and we will condition our children , even if it is unconciously. But then again i could be wrong, i am however conditioned.
