St. Mary’s High School Of Rutherford Essay, Research Paper

The topic I chose to write about is the school I am presently attending, St. Mary’s High School of Rutherford, NJ. I have an unbelievable amount of pride in SMHS, and it is an honor to be attending it.

I decided to go to St. Mary’s only because I knew a handful of people there and they seemed to really like it. I played football all of my life and was excited to play at St. Mary’s. The team was great, athletically and personally. Today, my best friends are the people I met freshman year on my football team. The coaches were like fathers. They really cared how I developed on and off the field. I found out through my four years here that sports isn’t just about athletic ability, it’s about personal growth, mental approach, and team loyalty. The concept of team unity helped me to play better because I felt it was my duty not to let down my teammates.

St. Mary’s is like one big family to me, from the staff and faculty down to the coaches and students. I’ve met some great people here that will leave a positive impact on me for the rest of my life. School pride is what drove me to run for student council offices. I was the vice-president of my sophomore and junior classes, and was fortunate enough to be elected president of my senior class. I feel it is a great honor to represent St. Mary’s which has given so much to me from friends, to an education, to life lessons. Being able to be in a position to help the school prosper is an unbelievable privilege for me.

I have confidence that I will succeed in life because St. Mary’s has given me all of life’s necessary qualities.The team camaraderie, student council leadership, education from teachers and coaches,and the companionship of my many friends has helped me develop into a person who is determined to reach my goals. I am lucky to have found such a special place.
