Laura Ingalls Wilder Essay, Research Paper
Most people don’t know who Laura Ingalls Wilder is! But if you have heard of the books Little House On the Prarie then you know exactly who I’m talking about. Little House on the Prarie is a series of books about Laura Ingall Wilders life growing up in the Big Woods.
Laura grew up in a big family but it was only her Mother, Father and sister Mary in the family house. They lived by some of their Family concidering Laura’s aunt and ucle along with their children.
Laura started travel west with her family in search of a big prarie. Where they wouldn’t have to pay to live on the land. They were going to go father west as possible. When Laura’s father old t hen about some indian reservation that they could live in for free the jumped to conclusions and headed there right away! While Lauras mother packed therir belongings In the covered wagon her father was selling their farm and land.
Soon after he sold it they were on their way on their long journey West! After about a year in this place people called the Big Woods Laura’s parents got a notice saying since the buyer of their old house wasn’t paying anymore they would eitherreturn or have to sell again. So the Ingalls descided moving back to Kansa would be the right desion since they have a new member of the family her name was Carrie. So next thing you know it they are on their way back to their own home where Mary and Laura’s friends would be waiting for them to return. The family was glad to lend a hand while the family moved out of the Ingalls house. Soon after they moved in the Ingalls and Laura’s aunt and uncle all decided to move across the Mississippi river to a little town called Plum Creek. SO the Ingalls were off again. When the two sets of Ingall family got to their desitination they lived in the covered wagon untill they built houses.
When they built they didn’t exactly build houses they built dugouts, something that will stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They really didn’t live by that many people.
Not long after that in the fall of 1877 the Ingalls moved to Walnut Groves. Once again they went back west. In the summer of 1876 Laura’s baby cousin Freddie dies from illness that he had been sick for a long time. Then again another family the Ingalls stayed with not just one night but intill they offered to stay with them untill they built a house. The Ensians have 3 children Willard and Anna which Mary, Carrie, and Laura played with and keep each other company.
Mary , Laura’s sister came down with a really bad illness that caused her to become blind. Now Laura explains everything about the trips they take to Mary as if Laura was her own eyes. Laura doesn’t mind this job but it seems that Laura wishes her sister could see the buetiful scenes herself but she knew it wasn’t possible , so Laura did her best to make her sisters life as good as it could be since she was blind.
Once again the Ingalls moved back to Walnut Grove in the fall of 1877. Since the Ingalls went with such little they were offered to stay with a very nice family not just for one day but untill they got their house built. From then on the Ingalls had been good friends and remained them.
Then Laura’s father was offered a job by his sister while train tracks were being built he went start to the offer knowing he would help his family with money problems. Laura’s father always would send them money for flour or food. When the tracks were finally done Laura’s mother took Mary , Carrie and Laura on the train to visit their father which they hadnt seen in ahwhile cause he was working very hard and couldn’t come home that offen. The camp site where he was working was near the Big Sioux River in Dakota Territory. Laura’s father had been there all summer keeping track of the records and files of everyone’s hours.
The railroad camp was built rigth on the edge of a Prairrie Lake. Ma always called it the “Silver River” said Laura. The Ingalls moved into a little shanty set apart from the bunkhouse. Laura’s Mother was always willing to put her hands out to help as she saved a life of a newborn baby from illness.
In Febuary of 1880 Laura’s father drove off to the law office in Brookings to claim their home. In the spring of 1880 Laura’s Mother thought since there was lot of people without homes because they were still being built, so she opened a hotel in her house. The people were aloud to sleep by the stove on the floor
