The KKK is a totally different group than it used to be. The men who make up the new KKK are very different, and the group is not as feared. The new KKK can t even compete with the old KKK.

The old KKK was a smaller more secret society, they had an intense hatred for black and Jews. Six confederate officers started the group. The confederate s main objective was to peach that blacks were unequal and make everyone hate them. They clan would do such thing to blacks like lynching, burning and beating them. After the KKK became more known and more people realized that they were bad government made the group illegal. The clan started to meet secretly and terrorized high authorities. A secret convention of Klansmen, held in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1867, declared the clan an invisible empire.

The new clan was started by a bunch of men in Georgia. The new group hated not only blacks and Jews, but they also hated immigrants and Catholics. The new clan made a movie that was supposed to incite hatred toward the black. The clan had hope that the movie would make people join the clan. The KKK grew from 100,000 to 5 million members. The KKK was becoming so big that it had several members in congress and one Supreme Court justice. The clan was at the peek of their dominance and it seemed that nothing could stop them, but then it was found that a clansman raped and killed a girl. The clan thought that they were higher than the law, but the man was convicted of murder. After the sentencing the clan s illegal acts were exposed to the world, and the KKK was finished.
