To Night I Can Write Essay, Research Paper
“Tonight I can write”
“Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer”. Pablo Neruda meant that he was not going to be hurt by these feelings any more. Neruda’s pain was like a stab in the heart, a wound that will never heal. He wrote this poem to help the pain to go away. Pablo Neruda was a Chile born, Spanish poet. He published two books before the age of twenty. He was mostly known for writing about social problems. Pablo Neruda was the early 1900’s news reporter. Neruda used allot of repetition, good themes, and was really narrative.
The speaker of this poem is Neruda. “I no longer love her, that’s certain, but maybe I loved her”. Love cannot be told from someone else feeling or thoughts. Night and day were where love stood between them. He wrote the quote in first person. Pablo writes this as he might be sad or depressed. “Tonight I can write the saddest lines”. He says that the lines he could write would be the saddest ever written. His sad and lonely dripping tears could fill the driest rivers. Pablo Neruda put plenty of unpleasing thought in his poem.
In “Tonight I can write” by Pablo Neruda, repetition was mostly used. “She loved me, sometimes I loved her”, “I no longer love her that’s certain, but how I loved her”. Neruda writes “I loved her” cause he wants to put it in the past and get over this lost puppy love. The reader can really feel how much he loved her and imagine how hard it was to get over her. As if he were throwing away pictures and letters of his ex-girlfriend. “To hear the immense night, still more immense without her”. Knowing you have money in the bank but you can’t touch it, is how he felt. He was trying to show that he can’t imagine living without her, but how he knows that he will. The reader can picture how lonely it must be at night, outside under the bright blue, sparkling sky, without no one. A lonely soul screaming and reaching for the readers soul to let this dark, depressing cloud hit them with lighting striking feelings of a lost love.
If you think its love don’t waste time, go and get it before it leaves you forever. “Love is so short and forgetting is so long”. The quote shows that he wasted his time and didn’t go after what he thought he loved, now he will never forget his love and always regret it. If you don’t go with your feelings you will regret it. “Tonight I can write the saddest lines”. When you know that you should of study for tomorrow test but you didn’t now you regret it. Both themes explain how Pablo loved and did not react in time, therefore he lost his love. Now he is the saddest that he has ever been. Lost loving loves lost each and every day.
Theme, repetition, and speaker were three most important elements in “Tonight I can write” by Pablo Neruda. The theme says the truth about loves do and don’ts; Do what you feel and don’t lose your love. The repetition showed and proved the importance of certain meanings; “I loved her” and “I can write the saddest lines tonight”. Both tell major element in the poem. The poet, as the speaker was great because it was a true feeling coming from the heart through out the whole poem. He was hurt by someone and trying to get over it, as he say “Through this be the last pain that she makes me suffer”. Everybody has or will love somebody, then inevitably they will get hurt. This just happens to fall into the circle of life that we all go though.
