There comes a time in ones life when he/she must make a decision in

which he/she must choose which occupation to spend the rest of their adult

life in. To many this can be an extremely stressful and painstaking

procedure. However, for others this can be the most rewarding and fruitful

experience. I have narrowed my job possibilities down to one. I have

decided to research the position of a psychologist. A psychologist has the

opportunity to help people in need of mental help. A psychologist can also

better the life of an individual by helping release personal anxiety.

In order to become a certified psychologist there must many

educational requirements to be fulfilled. Including a doctoral degree in

psychology, Ph.D in psychology, a Masters degree, and a Bachleors degree.

In this particular field, these educational requirements must be met or else

you cannot practice Psychology in the United States. If anyone is a

practicing Psychologist, and doesn’t meet the proper academic requirements,

he/she can be put on trial and face fines or prison time.

Being a Psychologist can be extremely hard. One is responsible for

studying human behavior and mental thought process to understand, explain

and change people’s behavior. One also must be able to work with people

with emotional and mental problems. However, Psychologists have many

fringe benefits, such as, paid vacations, sick leave, health insurance, and

pension. In addition, one who is a Psychologist may earn as low as, $55,000

a year to as high as, $77,000 a year.

As a result, I have realized that being a Psychologist is not easy. One

must work long hours, and also be able to deal with the mentally ill. I feel

that I can work with people in need of mental and emotional help. I feel that

if I can make an impact on one individuals life, I can make an impact on

many lives.
