Forms of Government

Communism: A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members. A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.

Democracy: Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives. A political or social unit that has such a government with thee common people, considered as the primary source of political power. Also went with Majority rule and the principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community.

Monarchy: A system of government in which the chief ruler is a monarch or a kingdom

Republic: A political order in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who are entitled to vote for officers and representatives responsible to them. A group of people working as equals in the same sphere or field.

Socialism: to transfer the means of production from private ownership to the ownership of organized society, to the State. The socialistic State owns all material factors of production and thus directs it.

Oligarchy: organized into powerful families, where the children are raised and groomed simply to propagate and advance the power of the oligarchy, usually at the expense of the governed. Oligarchies often arise as a natural course of maturing of a republic, as one family gains supremacy over all of the others.
