The Declaration of the Students

As students, it is our duty to follow any rules, or laws, that the administration gives us. If we do not follow these rules, then we will be punished in many different ways. Some of these ways are unjust, and not suited for every student. Many of times we think to change these rules, but are often to scared or intimidated to try. This should not be happening. We should feel at easy to change these rules, considering we are the ones that make up the school. In comparison, there are very few adults to students in the school. And if the students find a rule that they need to change for the better, then why not? The administration only wants these rules to be harsh because they think we are all troublemakers. That is one stereotype that they can take into the wrong place. When making these rules they should consider all of the different types of students, not just the ones that get in trouble the most. Allowing the students to help change these rules is only something we would dream of. A petition has already been tried, and that was rejected before it was read.

They won’t let us sleep in study hall. Even though you should be studying, hence the name, you may have all of your work done. For that you should be rewarded in some way. Sleeping would be a great way to cut down the amount of talking and everyone would be able to get his or her work done without interruption.

When a student needs to go to the bathroom, they should be able to go whenever they want. Some teachers don’t let them go because they say they should have done it before class. Maybe they didn’t have to before class, and now they do. This leads to other problems too.

They keep taking our rights away. Soon we won’t be able to do anything at all. The school keeps getting stricter and harsher. The zero tolerance is getting out of hand. Our rights should not be inalienable. WE, THE STUDENTS OF LIBERTY UNION, are going to do something about this matter, and get our rights back. We are going to set a guideline for the administration to follow so they won’t downgrade us ever again.

This guideline that we propose will make all students, no matter who it is, have a right to vote for a change. No matter what rule it is, we will have the right to make a petition to elect, or reject the rule for the best of the schools environment.
