Bronco Vs. Blazer Essay, Research Paper
Bronco vs. Blazer
The Ford Bronco II and the Chevy Blazer S-10 are in the same class of SUVs. However they are different from each other. The Blazer is faster and safer by far. Because the Bronco II has a shorter wheelbase than most Sport Utility Vehicles, it has a greater chance of flipping. Many people, including myself, have experienced the Bronco II’s tendency to roll over and have sued the Ford Motor Company for punitive damages. The Chevy Blazer sports, the 4.3 liter engine, while the Bronco II has a measly 2.9 liter engine. Also the Blazer has a longer wheelbase than the Bronco II which makes it a safer vehicle. They have many differences, but they are still considered fair competition for each other. The Blazer, I feel is safer and just a better choice for anybody looking for a used Sport Utility Vehicle.
The Bronco II is a small version of Ford’s successful Bronco, but to bad the Bronco II was not so successful. The first thing that comes to my mind about the Bronco II is its tendency to want to roll-over because of the short wheelbase. many people and I have experienced this first hand. Lana and Pamela Ammerman on March 22, 1991, suffered serious permanent injuries due to being thrown from their Bronco II after swerving to avoid

hitting another vehicle. The Ford Motor Company upholds that the Bronco II is as safe as any other Sport Utility Vehicle, but people such as the Ammermans and I know the truth. The next problem area is in the motor. The heads tend to warp after getting hot. Also the exhaust manifold has no donuts just a flange so if the connection leaks, new down pipes, or new manifolds will have to be purchased. Also I feel the motor is just plain pitiful compared to the Chevy Blazer’s 4.3 liter power-plant. Another problem area, is the rear passenger windows they look really cool but they are very expensive to replace because they are bent at the top. And I hope you would already know this but in case you don’t, it is a real bad decision to put oversized tires on the Bronco II because this increases your chances of flipping.
The Bronco II’s competition the Chevy Blazer S-10, is much more safe and powerful. To begin with, the Blazer has a longer wheelbase than the Bronco II and this makes the chances of flipping far less than the bronco II. Another characteristic that makes the Blazer have better center gravity is the fact that it’s almost two inches closer to the ground. Also the Blazer’s 4.3 liter engine is almost twice the size of the Bronco II’s 2.9 liter engine. However I still wouldn’t suggest oversized tires on the Blazer because they are dangerous on any Sport Utility Vehicle.

I would suggest the Chevy Blazer S-10 over the Ford Bronco II to anybody who is looking to purchase a safe and reliable used
Sport-Utility-Vehicle. A primary reason I would suggest the Chevy Blazer is because of its superior center of gravity. It also has a much larger and durable motor. This vehicle is much
more reliable over the Bronco II. But by far the greatest reason I would not suggest the Bronco II is that I experienced its inferior design first hand, and it almost killed me.
