I met a girl once, a bigot, filled with hate.

And I asked her why she was so,

And she said that it was fate.

But I urged her to tell me more so,

I could help this corrupted soul.

But I was too young and innocent,

To understand I’d never reach my goal.

She said they were not humans,

And I recoiled in disgust,

She said they were all felons,

And she was filled with nothing but disgust.

I asked, “Why do you think that, why are you so tough?”

And she only replied,

“They were born and raised – isn’t that enough?”

She said she hated all things black and everything that’s dark.

I asked her why and she said,

They made her feel quite stark.

I asked her why again and she said,

“Leave me alone little boy, for it is getting late,

And you will never change;

And I will always hate.”

She began to walk away, leaving me shocked and stunned.

All that I could say was:

“Dream in color, ‘O fearful one.”

“I am always afraid,”

Is what she replied to me,

And then she walked away,

Going off to dream a fearful sleep.

But she obviously would never hear.

But I still urged her to tell me more so,

And I learned a little about fate:

That I am far too innocent,

And she will always hate.
