My Favorite Place To Go Essay, Research Paper
Everyone should have the chance to travel to Europe at least once in their life time. Germany is one of the wonderful countries on the list of places to go and see. In Germany there are many different regions, such as Bavaria, the Reineland and many more. One specific region, The Reineland, has many different towns and cities. Duisburg is one of these towns rich in culture and industry it is a great palace to go. Two of my favorite places to go are in Duisburg, The Stadt-park and the Meiderich-platz Strasse cafes. The stadt-park is a very fun place to go. With the many bike paths and trails to hike, there are endless places to disappear. The playground is another fun place to visit while at Stadt-park. Within the playground there is a structure that can’t be found in the United States (for liability reasons). The structure is about 30 ft tall and it is made entirely out of chains and what appears to be sheets of tire rubber. The first time I saw it I was apprehensive of climbing up, but my friends forced me. As I slowly came to the decision to go ahead and climb, all my friends were nearly to the top. I started climbing not looking down, trying to forget that there was nothing underneath to catch me if I fell. A little more than half way up some of the teenagers at the bottom started to jump up and down on a what I would call a trampoline. It shook the whole thing. I was scared to death that the whole thing was going to fall apart with me on it. Finally, I gathered up my courage and climbed the rest of the way to the top. At the top I looked around and the view was to say the least, awesome.
The miderich-platz was another good place to go. Along with the many stores and shops there were also great cafes. One cafe in particular was an ice cream cafe. They had a wide variety of flavors as well as many different ways to eat the ice cream. The customer walks in and has the choice to sit down and be served, or walk up to the counter, order your favorite flavor in a cone or cup, and leave. If the customer decides to sit, the first look at the menu that has everything from spaghetti ice, to “after 5″ ices, to plain ordinary ice cream. One of my favorites was der Garten Ice, which in English means The Garden Ice Cream. It had 6 scoops of fruit ice cream. Not American sized scoops, they are much smaller, with chocolate flowers, and a sauce that contained blueberry juice, strawberry juice and some sort of liqueur that I think was vodka. The customer can sit in there for hours talking to friends, just as long as they order something. Duisburg has many more things than just a playground and an ice cream cafe. I just wanted to share a few of my favorite places. Hopefully one day everyone can visit a small European town and come home with special memories as I did.
