With the difference between the majority and minority parities being so narrow the pork-barrel legislation will have a major impact on the next section of Congress. Pork barrel is local laws that are passed to help out your local areas.

The Congress is going to be more 50-50 on their decisions. When ever there is a majority in the house they usually side to that party and more laws are passed. This helps the pork barrel legislation get more laws passed that they want and they are not as picky on which ones get passed because so many of them are passed through attaching them to other bills. When the Congress gets more narrow in the difference in parties it will be harder to get a pork barrel law passed because less laws will be passed at all. This will make it a fight to decide which pork barrel laws will get attached to the other laws. Different people will feel that their law should get passed and it will become a problem deciding which is more important. Overall there will be less laws pass which will lead to less pork barrel laws and which would also make more arguments over which law is more important for their local area.
