The Axial Age And Globalistion Essay, Research Paper
It
is a valid to draw analogies and similarities between the Axial Age and the
present era of Globalization.? This is
true because they were both the changing and advancing of culture, technology,
economy, etc.? Globalization spread new
ideas and changes in thinking, as did the Axial Age.? The reason both changes occurred was probably that the people were
questioning the old beliefs and ideas, leading to a search for the new.? The Axial Age was a revolution where many
philosophers and thinkers changed religion spiritually and intellectually.? These thinkers, such as Socrates and Plato,
had new philosophies about religion that shifted towards monotheism, moral and
ethical thought, and the beginning of science, which was once animism or nature
worship (polytheism).? These new
philosophies were more complex and harder to grasp, causing many to stay a part
of the nature religions for centuries to come.?
The present era of Globalization is sweeping aside old forms of thought,
organization, culture, and politics because of the discovery of global
capitalism, just like the rapid changes of the Axial Age. – 1 – Both
the Axial Age and present era of Globalization had technological and
informational revolutions as well.? The
technological innovations of the Axial Age were the use of iron, which was very
plentiful.? ?For the use of iron tools
took control out of the hands of the wealthy and dispersed it.?[1]? Also, The Axial Age brought about literacy
such as the alphabet. Globalization on the other hand had many new changes and innovations.?
?All old established national industries?. Are dislodged by new
industries whose? products are consumed, not only at home, but in every quarter
of the globe.? In place of old wants? we
find new wants, requiring for their satisfaction the products of distant lands
and climes.?[2]? Some examples of such products are
computers, Internet, or even fast food! ????????? The economic activity
of both the Axial Age and present day Globalization also draw analogies.? While the Axial Age began the use of
coinage, increasing trade, the Globalization increased the global economy.? However, both increased cultural diffusion,
economic activity, and global capitalism.?
At both time periods, there was a rapid flow of capital, goods and
services. ????????? In conclusion, I
think it is safe to say the present era of Globalization and the Axial Age have
similarities and can surprisingly draw analogies. [1] Social Studies I Synopsis: The Iron Age and the Axial Age [2] Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels? The
