Terrorism, A Hateful Act
Since the attacks on September 11, 2001, America has been on the edge. What is it that caused America to live like this? One word can sum it up, Terrorism! The past couple of years this word has been described in many ways. Terrorism is when evil acts of violence are used to intimidate a group of people. Our President has used terms such as evil, cowardly, and hateful acts to describe terrorism.
Terrorism, is the threat or use of violence, often against the civilian population, to political ends. Terrorism involves activities such as assassinations, bombings, random killings, hijackings, and skyjackings. Groups too weak to mount to open assaults use it for political, not military purposes. Terrorism reaches back to ancient Greece and has occurred throughout history. In the twentieth century acts of terrorism have been associated with the Italian Red Brigades, the Irish Republican Army, the Palestine Liberation Organization, Peru s Shining Path, and the Weatherman among many groups. It is a modern tool of the alienated and its psychological impact on the public has increased because of extensive coverage by the media. Governments find terrorism difficult to prevent.
Since these acts of terrorism, America and many other nations have declared war on terrorism. They want to stop these cowards from hurting innocent people again. Instead of people fearing these terrorists, the terrorist will now fear us.

They are not very knowledgeable the only know what their leader has taught them. They did not understand that they could not destroy us. Our president said, Terrorists attacks
can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America . These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. The innocent civilians of different countries face terrorism every day.
What exactly is evil? When we say evil we think of the devil, villains, and monsters. Evil is something that causes trouble or injury to another living thing. We connect this word with the devil because we have been taught that he is the father of all evil. Villains are people, who knowingly cause harm. Terrorists are the leader of villains. It is said that terrorists are very hard to be stopped.
Why do terrorists do what they do? Is it because they do not believe in the same things we stand for, such as freedom, liberty, and our right to the pursuit of happiness? Terrorists may also be considered monsters. Like a monster, a terrorist s behavior is cruel and wicked. Monsters are thought of to be evil creatures that have no heart.
Terrorism truly is a hateful act. It is important to understand that hate is not the opposite of love. The opposite of love is apathy. Hatred is an empty and lonely feeling, which many terrorists have. When someone hates , they have no feeling toward what is being referred to by the hate. It is not something that we physically see, but something that can be felt very strongly. People hate terrorism because they do not understand what it is that they strongly dislike. Most terrorists are brainwashed at a very young age and

do not know anything but to hate a certain group of people. They know that they hate freedom, and liberty because it is something that they cannot experience.
Many acts of terrorism have been brought upon the United States some which you can remember were the Oklahoma City bombing, and very recently the Worlds Trade Center bombings. These signaled a change in terrorism in the United States. Many recent attacks of terrorism have dealt with mass casualty deaths.
We have often feared of going to war with countries such as Russia and China. Now we have a new enemy to face, terrorism. One much more worse than we could ever imagine because there are to many terrorists around the world to worry about. We know that our war on terrorism will be far different from any other war that we have ever fought before. I am confident that out leader will lead our nation to victory and soon will be something of the past.
