Strength in Victories

In the epic poem Beowulf, strength is clearly expressed in Beowulf?s victories. ?[Grendal] was instantly seized himself, claws bent back as Beowulf leaned up on one arm? (Beowulf 323-4). His strength alone could fight off a murderous monster with out the help of any weapons. Beowulf?s enemies knew that he was like no other they had ever fought. His strength was incredible and would match and/or top their strength. ?[Grendal] knew at once that nowhere on earth had he met a man whose hands were harder? (Beowulf 326 ? 7). Beowulf?s defeats were shocking to his enemies. His confidence was overbearing to any enemy. The monsters used to being feared now feared Beowulf. ?For [Grendal] his freedom, wanting no flesh but retreat, desiring nothing but escape? (Beowulf 338 ? 9). Beowulf was a great fighter and a respected hero. he had many defeats and no failures, his strength will always be remembered.
