Not Dick Clark

The first chapter of the book begins with Savanna Getting ready for a New Years eve party. Her younger sister encouraged her to meet a guy named Lionel, who is the friend of Sheila’s husband. After Thanksgiving they talked on occasions and now he invited to meet her at this party. While she is getting ready she explains that she is moving to Phoenix and one of the reasons is because “the men are dead in Denver”. In the past nine years she has spent it living with three different guys and she just can’t find the right one. When she arrives at the party she is nervous and not happy about the way she looks, but that doesn’t stop her. She didn’t really know what Lionel looked like so she sat at an open seat. She hopes that this is the right guy and wants to have fun tonight. She waits for an hour and finally bumps into him and is surprised. They talked for awhile and then decided to dance, while they where dancing she is swept off her feet and believes that he is the guy that she has been waiting for all her life. After the dance is finished they return to their seats and that’s when she finds out that Lionel is at the party with another woman. Denise puts her arm around Lionel and tells him to dance with her. They left to the dance floor and Lionel turned around and gave Savanna a look of apology. Then she leaves the party to go home and watch Dick Clark on the television.

I think I really can relate to Savanna because we have many things in common. I think one of the biggest similarities is that I moved to Hawaii because I wanted to get away from the life in Korea. I never found the guys in Korea interesting and found them to be real dead beats. Since coming to Hawaii I found the sweetest boyfriend and am so glad that I moved here. Another similarity that I found with Savanna was the situation that she was in at the party. A long time ago I was invited to a Christmas party by a guy I only knew by the description from my friend and from talking over the Internet. When I arrived at the party I didn’t know anyone there and was so nervous to meet this guy. As Savanna was explaining her situation I could see myself back at that Christmas party and felt the way that she felt. Though I wasn’t as lucky as she was because I thought the guy was not attractive at all.

Suddenly Single

Bernadine explains how she finds out that her husband is leaving her for a white girl. She explains how good she was to her husband by taking care of the two kids and giving up her carrier for him. They were rich and lived in a luxurious fashion, but she didn’t need it to be happy. At this point she is furious at her husband, John, because she is a middle age woman with kids and nobody would want her now.

I Really feel sorry for her because she devoted so much time and so much to her husband. I hope when I get married that I don’t run into the same problems as she did.

Forget What I Just Said

The next chapter is about Robin, a successful insurance professional who just got out of a dead end relationship. Russell, the man that she was dating for two years always came up with excuses why they weren’t getting married. She did everything for him to keep him from straying, she worked out, kept the house clean, and paid for everything. She finally ended the relationship after she saw the signs of him cheating and realized that they where going nowhere. After they broke up she went looking, but nobody else was out there. She was so desperate and tired of finding the wrong guys that she decided to date her co.-worker, Michael. He was definitely not her type and wasn’t a bit attractive, in fact she found him disgusting, however he was available. After Robin had pathetic sexual contact and was completely dissatisfied he asked her what her dreams where. She replied to get married and have kids and quit her job when her kids are seven. He thought that it wasn’t much that she asked for and wanted to fulfill her fantasy. When they finished with talking she felt silky and disregarded that he was fat, short and pale. To her Michael felt like the real thing and everything was perfect.

I find that it is really good that Robin gives Michael a chance. I don’t think it is right for people to just go out with people because of their looks. I also know that it is important to be attracted physically to the person you love. I think it would be hard for me to be with some one that I wasn’t attracted to but what would keep me in the relationship is his personality.

Unanswered Prayers

Gloria is a single mother with a teenage son and owner of a beauty salon. Times have changed for her since her little boy has grown up. Her life rotated around him and the connection between them was fading. His dad was coming in to town to visit him except now because of the years of disappointment Tarik, the son, resented his father, David. Gloria loved her shop and everyone knew each other or knew of each other. Philip and Joseph, employees for Gloria, knew all the dirt about everyone. When Gloria came into work they were talking about Bernadine. Gloria concerned about Bernadine tried to get in contact with her and left a message on her answering machine to call her back. After coming home and still no reply from Bernadine, Gloria decides to call Robin to see if she heard about anything. While waiting for David to come Tarik calls home and tells his mother that he’s sleeping over his friends house and that he didn’t want to see his dad. When David arrives he asks where Tarik is and Gloria tells him that he feels awkward about seeing him. After Gloria tries to get reacquainted with David he reveals to her that he was bisexual for many years but is now gay.

I find it sad for Gloria to be a single parent and have to take care of a teenage son. I have a younger brother and I know how difficult they can be sometimes. I found it kind of funny that the father turns out to be gay.

Fire

Bernadine decides that she needs time alone so she drives her two kids to her mothers house. Although the kids dislike going to their grandmas house because they have so many rules there, they don’t mind because they get to miss school. When Bernadine arrives back at home she finally builds enough courage to go into the house. She realizes how much order there is in the house from the books in alphabetical order and the clothes set by color and brand. She grabs all of John’s clothes and dumps them into the BMW, making three trips back and forth. She rolls the car into the driveway and lights it on fire. Not interested in watching it burn she goes inside and falls asleep. She is awoken by the fire department and they tell her that it is illegal to burn such bulky items on their property. For the next four days she stays home and doesn’t shower, brush and hardly eat. After the fifth day she realizes what she has done and decides to get back in order. She gathered all of John’s stuff and puts them in garbage bags, there was so much that she got the idea to have a garage sale. She remembered that Savanna was coming to stay with her and that would cheer her up. Bernadine called her mother and informed her that she would pick up the kids. When they got home they got ready for the garage sale and by 7a.m. in the morning had all of his things out on the pavement. People were shocked how cheap things where and in about two hours they had made one-hundred and sixty eight dollars and everything was sold.

I think it is funny that she burned all of John’s cloths. I probably would have done the same thing or at least give the cloths to good will. It is understandable that her actions were intense because she gave up 11 years of her life. I think she should have sold the other thing for more too. Damn she lost a lot on that garage sell

Fat

Gloria hardly slept that night and woke up early in the morning. She didn’t know what to do so she decided to go to church. After returning home from church, Tarik was already home. She asked if anyone called, hoping that Bernadine had called but there was no such luck. After finding a hickey on Tarik’s neck, they get into a conversation about sex. Tarik admits to his mother that he has slept with nine other girls since last summer, which worries her because of so many diseases. She warns him about the different things he can catch and that she doesn’t want to see him get a girl pregnant. After he is clear about everything Gloria is curious about where he got the hickey from. Tarik explains that it is from Michelle, the white girl two houses down the street. They eat dinner and after cleaning she wonders about his sexual experiences, then she starts to wonder about her own, if she will ever find someone.

I’m just glad that I don’t have a son yet where I have to worry about him sleeping around and doing other things. I remember when I first started dating. My parents needed to know everything and were very strict. I must have gave them hell but they lived through it. Now I live with my boyfriend and my parents love him.

Interstate Lust

It seems as if nothing is working out for Savanna because her friend that was going to drive with her to Phoenix canceled and the sale of her condo fell through. The only hope that she got was when she received a call from Lionel, who wanted to meet with her for dinner. At dinner she explained to him all the bad breaks she was getting and he offered to drive with her to Phoenix. Shocked because she only met him she agreed and they got ready for their road trip. When Savanna picked Lionel up she noticed that there was a rusty car on stilts and his house was very small. They packed up the car with his things and where on their way. After driving awhile they got more aquatinted and Savanna was getting less attracted to him, he looked like a horse. They stopped at a motel and Savanna booked two separate rooms, even though Lionel requested that they share. A couple hours past and Lionel was knocking at the door. She let him in and because part of her fantasy was to get some on the road, she gave into his request of keeping her warm. The time during sex she didn’t find enjoyable. He was in a rush and when she told him to slow down he was to aggressive. He started grunting and making sounds like an animal “grrrrrr” and finally collapsed, she didn’t know if she was sleeping with a man or a beast. When morning arrived Savanna was in a rush to get to Phoenix and get rid of Lionel. After many excuses Savanna finally got Lionel off her back by giving him the air fair so that he could stay in a cheap motel and catch a bus back to Denver.

I found this chapter funny. I can’t believe that Lionel growled when he was having sex. If I was in Savannah shoes I would have laughed in his face. I cant believe how cheap and disgusting he was too.

Discovery

Bernadine has just found out that her husband closed all their joint accounts and CD’s of about thirty-thousand dollars. Because he sold most of his assets, now Bernadine will get less money from the divorce and cannot afford to pay the mortgage payments. After coming from the bank she storms into his office and finds Kathleen, the woman that he left her for is also there. Bernadine slaps her across the face and grabs her hair telling her that she is going to have a word with her husband. Kathleen runs out of the room and John talks to Bernadine. She tells him about the bills and he tries to make a settlement, however the amount that he comes up with isn’t enough for the family. After leaving the office she goes to Gloria’s salon to get her hair cut. Gloria is at home sick with the flu and Bernadine tells them to cut all her hair off. While she is there they convince her to get a makeover as well, which she does. Savanna picks up the kids and decides that its time to tell them that she and their father are going to have a divorce. Then she goes to her mothers house to inform her of what has been happening these past weeks. When she gets home from her mother’s, Savanna is waiting in the back for her and leaves the toys for the kids on the table. They stay up all night catching up on each other.

I can’t believe that her husband could do that ho her and the kids. I know now that I am getting joint everything with my husband and am going to make sure that all his employees are guys. I could just kill him, he makes me mad.

Venus In Virgo

Robin has been with Michael for some time and there is no doubt that he is treating her well. He spent more time and money on her then all the guys she went out with put together but he just isn’t her type. She finally decides that she has to break up with him and tells him over coffee. When she finally gets rid of him she is relieved and cleans herself up. She pays a little visit to her parents house and sees how difficult it is for her mother. Robin’s father has Alzheimer disease and can’t do much on his own, she wants to help but doesn’t have enough money to pay for a house nurse. The next day she returns home and calls Bernadine’s house. Savanna picks up the phone and they get to know each other and find out that they are practically neighbors. Savanna gives the phone to Bernadine and they talk about what is happening with the divorce case. As soon as they start talking about Michael being out of the picture, Robin is saved by another call. It was Russell on the other line and he wanted to know if Robin wanted any company. Without any hesitation she answers him with yes and ends both conversations so that she can get ready for him to come. It has been so long since anyone desirable has been in her life.

I know it’s hard to be dating someone you’re not attracted to. It must have been hard to break up with Michael because he treated her so good. I’m just glad that my boyfriend treats me good and that I am attracted to him, it makes things easier.

Happy Hour

At this point all the girls decide to go out to a club called Pendleton’s. Bernadine needed to get out, Gloria hoped that she wouldn’t be bored, Savannah hoped to meet someone and Robin hoped that she wouldn’t see someone she slept with. Because Robin lives so close and wanted to see Savanna’s new apartment she agreed to pick her up. They arrived to the club early and Savanna got to know Robin a little better. Robin started to talk about her life and about Russell, her favorite subject. At this point Savannah thinks that Robin is naive, but she likes her anyway because she is so open. About an hour late Bernadine and Gloria show up. They talk for awhile and Bernadine finds someone she knows, a fine looking married man. All of her friends are shocked when Bernadine gets up and dances with him. While the three girls waited for someone to ask them to dance, Robin sees Michael with a date. She is furious and Jealous but Savannah and Gloria try to calm her down so that she doesn’t do anything to make herself to look stupid. Finally someone asks Savannah to dance and at this point she didn’t care what he looked like. He was average all around and didn’t really attract her. When Bernadine comes back exhausted from dancing, Gloria tells them that she is bored and ready to go home. Because Robin isn’t having a good time either, she agrees with Gloria about leaving and Savannah follows because Robin is her ride home. They leave Bernadine their and are on their way home. On the drive back to their house Savannah and Robin talk about the break up of Bernadine and John, then basically about guys. They go home and agree to meet tomorrow. At the end of the night Robin calls Michael and leaves him a message on his answering machine. She then calls Russell at the number he gave her, which a woman picks up the phone. Not thinking of anything she asks for Russell, the lady explodes telling her to stop calling and then hangs up. Gloria made it home in time to watch Cagney and Lacey and thinks about the way things went. She falls a sleep trying to think of something worth dreaming about. Bernadine returns home late at night and tells herself that she is going to do something with the guy she danced with even though he’s married.

I think that it is good that Bernadine is having a good time. It’s just too bad that the other girls aren’t having as much fun. I know if I just got screwed over I would want to keep my mind off of things.

Freedom of Expression

Gloria finds out that her son has just got expelled because the school believed that he was in some kind of gang. They discuss it more and she grounds him, he responds by walking to his room and slamming the door. Savannah calls and invites Gloria to a party with her and Robin, she responds with no and they end their conversation shortly. After that she receives a call from Bernadine and it seems as if she could use some company. Gloria Visits her and they talk awhile, she finds out that Bernadine is having sex with the guy at the club and warns her to be careful. When Gloria comes home she walks in to Tarik’s room, to her surprise she finds the white girl sucking on his *censored*. Furious, Gloria yells at Tarik and slips about his father being gay. They talk awhile longer, not knowing what to do, she sends him to his room.

I really thought it was funny that the mother caught her son and the white girl doing things. I’m sure glad that I was never in that situation otherwise I would have been so embarrassed. I think it is also devastating for Tarik to hear about his father being gay.

Steam

Savannah is waiting for robin at the spa and as usual Robin is late. They meet up in the steam room and start talking about guys again. When they finish with the steam bath they take a shower and go home. When Savannah comes home she has two messages on her answering machine, one from her mother and the other from Kenneth, her ex-boyfriend. She wonders how he got her number but then realizes that her mother must have given it to him. She remembers how much the mother was fond of Kenneth and how devastated she was when they broke up. Kenneth was good to Savannah and that’s probably why her standards are so high now. Kenneth calls again and tells Savannah that he is coming to her area. They talk about him being married and having a kid, catch up on each others business and then make arrangements to meet. The next day she calls her mom, Savanna informs her about Phoenix and in return the mom tells Savannah about things in Denver and about the family.

I find it strange that the mother would want a married man and her daughter to get together. I think that Savannah should just meet him and nothing more. It would be a shame if she messed up his marriage. I also think that the mother should let Savannah do things on her own.

Control

Bernadine is out on the patio talking to Gloria about her problems. She tells her about how the case is going and how many things John is hiding from her. They then decide to go shopping, because Tarik’s grades have gone up Gloria buys him hundred dollar shoes. At the mall they bump in to Robin and talk for awhile at the food court. Robin tells them that she met a guy named Troy a couple days before at the supermarket. Gloria and Bernadine leave the mall and laugh about how pitiful Robin is. The next day Bernadine is interrupted at work because her daughter has a temperature of 103 and needed to get picked up from school. Her daughter had an ear infection and had to stay out of school for awhile. The next couple of days after were hell for her. She seemed like in a rush with no time to do anything, by the end of the day she would be exhausted but would have trouble sleeping. She went to the doctors and the doctor recommended some depressant pills. When she took the pills she had bad side affects, she was vomiting, having nightmares, and hallucinating. It took awhile before she got rid out of the pills but she was tired of feeling like she was crazy so she dumped them down the garbage disposal.

I think that the doctor is dumb and she should see someone else. I think those pills make everyone crazy and should be more supervised. I’m glad that Bernadine had enough sence

It Ain’t About Nothin’

Robin had just let Troy in and already he is all over her. She thought about what Bernadine told her at the mall and wanted to get to know him better. They discussed what they wanted to do that evening and sex was on his mind. They ended up going to his friend’s house to visit him, he was a lawyer and had a nice house. When Robin entered the house she noticed that they where smoking pot and crack. Troy also participated but Robin found it disturbing and wanted to leave. After they went home Robin told Troy how he felt and was pretty mad. He told her that he didn’t do it often and that he wanted her to meet his mother. The next day Robin talks to Savannah and fills her in the details. Savannah advises her to let him go and that he isn’t good for her. Robin listens to Savannah’s advise and tells him off when he comes to pick her up for the barbecue that she is supposed to meet his mom at.

I agree with Savannah because drugs are never good. I think I would dump my boyfriend if I ever found out that he did drugs. Marijuana is a popular drug her in Hawaii but I find it disgusting, I cant even bare to see it let alone smell it.

BWOTM

All the girls met at the “ Black Women On The Move” meeting and sat through the discussions. They announced Savannah the newest member and introduced her. They talked about functions and other things that they had planned. At the end of the meeting the girls met up and talked together. First Bernadine made sure that Savannah didn’t tell the others about her problems and then Robin made sure that Savannah didn’t tell the others about her problem.

This meeting seems interesting and good for the black community. It seems as though Savannah is a good listener since they all share their problems with her.

Why Are You Here

Savannah has her big date with Kenneth and she is very nervous. When he arrives at her house they talk awhile and catch up on old times. They start talking about his wife and how he’s not in love with her. The only reason why they got married is because she was the mother of his child. They talked some more and told each other how they felt about each other. Savannah made it clear to him that they were not going to sleep together and made arrangements for the next day to meet again. That same night he calls and tells her that he didn’t want to go and she admits that she didn’t want him to go either. He then comes back and they did things that she knew she was going to regret in the morning. When the next morning came they discussed what happened that night and Savannah said that she was wrong and didn’t want to do it anymore.

I’m glad that Savanna decided to end things with Kenneth. I think he was just using her for sex and was never planning to divorce his wife. Men like that make me sick and I hope I never meet a guy like that.

Rebounding

Robin listened to her answering machine and the first person was Troy telling her that he cleaned up his act. The second call was from Michael telling her that he missed her. The last call, which shocked her, was from Russell. He told her that he didn’t want her to call the house anymore because his wife was getting mad. She was so mad and had so many questions in her head. She wanted to know how he could do this to her or why he didn’t want to marry her. She then thought to call Michael for some company but a girl answered his phone so she left a message with her. Robin then called Savanna to tell her what Russell did and to get some comfort. Then she called Michael again and asked if he got the message. He said he didn’t and explained that the girl was just a friend. He offered her to dinner but never showed so Robin decided to call Troy. She was desperate and really needed the company. He told her that he would be right over.

I don’t think Robin should use guys like that. Although I believe she is being screwed over by Russell I still think that Michael and Troy are being used.

Killing Time

Bernadine was alone in her big house. It was driving her crazy not having anything to do. She walks around the house and goes into her children’s room looks around . She calls Savannah and talks to her for awhile. Savannah tells her about Kenneth and tells her that he’s coming back to look for a job in Phoenix. Savannah doesn’t want it to get serious because she has a problem with him being married, ,even though he is trying to get a divorce. Then Bernadine decides to call Gloria. She talks to Tarik and he tells her that she went to a BWOTM meeting. She decides that she has to get out and get ready. She drives around and finds herself at a hotel. She sits in the bar drinking and meets a guy named James Wheeler. They talk for three hours and know more about each other then many people do in years. Bernadine talks about her divorce and James tells her about his sick wife. They end the night by comforting each other in the hotel room and knew that they loved each other. They thanked one another for being honest and trusting.

I feel happy that she met someone that is actually good for her. I cant believe they only met though, she should take things slower. If I was in that situation I don’t think I would be able to do it, but under the circumstances she did need it.

New Territory

Gloria looks out the window and sees a big truck outside. She watches the movers move the boxes into the house across the street. She wondered if the neighbors had kids and wanted to meet them but not that day. She went to the shop but it was empty, one worker quit and the other was sick. Bernadine came in early for her appointment and Gloria started on her. When Gloria went home she had a talk about college with Tarik. He didn’t want to go to ASU but another program in Atlanta. She said they would talk about it later and see if he gets accepted. Gloria had just finished making a pie for the neighbors and went over to give it to them. When she arrives at the house she sees a handsome man with a good build. They talk about their current status and she finds that he is single. She asks him over for dinner and he accepts.

It’s so good to see that Tarik is on the right track. When I was younger I use to be a party girl. I always went out with boys and didn’t concentrate on school. It finally occurred to me that I would have to shape up, which I did.

Closer To The Bone

Russell is back in the picture with Robin and she doesn’t care that Bernadine, Savannah and Gloria are probably talking about her. They talked about the marriage and that he was getting a divorce. He left the house telling her that they were going to get it settled. Robin was getting antsy after three hours and decided to call her mother. They talked about her father and they where having trouble financially and dint know what to do. The mothers lawyer advised them to have a divorce but she didn’t believe in that because she was Catholic. When Russell returned he had no answer and didn’t wasn’t to be questioned. He only wanted to go to sleep. She tried to get close to him but he only moved away.

I think that Russell is a jerk. If I was Robin I would kick his ass out and never let him back into her life. I think that he did something with his wife that night and I don’t think he ever plans on getting a divorce.

Drunk

It was Gloria’s thirty eighth birthday so they decided to buy a couple of bottles of champagne and celebrate at Gloria’s house. They drank all night listening to music and talking about their life. Each of them took turns telling they’re sad story. Savannah then came to the conclusion that besides being black and female they were all single. They then started talking about guys and how much they disliked them. By the end of the night they where all drunk and fell asleep in the living room.

I think that it is real cute what they did for Gloria. On my 18th birthday I had some of my closest friend sleep over and we just had girls night at my place. We bonded so much and it is one of my most memorable memories.

Monsoon

John had just returned the kids to Bernadine and they quickly ran into the house. The daughter had a lot to say, first she said that John married Kathleen and then to top that that Kathleen is having a baby. John Junior got mad at her for telling their mom all of that and slapped her and made her repeat “ I have a big mouth” 500 times. She was feeling depressed and thought about James. When ever she was sad or feeling down she though of James. The next day she received a letter from him and it made her feel good. She suddenly had energy and was alive again. She read to Savannah and she thought it was beautiful. Savannah advises her to go out with him again and take things from there. Invite him to meet you and then see how he’s like. Bernadine’s mom pays a visit and informs her that she is moving back to Philadelphia to live with Aunt Mabel. Bernadine calls Savannah to tell her that she called James and made the arrangement s for him to visit, He’s coming in a week and left the flight open. They talked some more and Savannah had to remind Bernadine that she forgot to wish her happy birthday. She talked about Kenneth and how she isn’t looking for much. Bernadine had good news that the investigator found out that John has been cheating the taxes and his partner. Things are looking better for her.

I just want to give Bernadine a gun so that she could just shoot him. He really pisses me off. I can’t believe he could be so cruel to her after all she has done for him during those 11 years. I really thing he is disgusting and makes me sick.

To Heaven And Back

Savannah just had heard some bad news from her mother. It appears that she is only getting twenty something dollars in food stamps and doesn’t have anymore money. She cashed in her CD and sent 5oo dollars to her mother. Then she was on her way to Las Vegas for her job convention. Their she met a man, Charles, and from their they hit it off. They skipped a meeting and spent the day together talking by the pool side. Later that night they meet up at a party and leave to go to dinner. When dinner is finished he tells her his feelings and that he likes her. They go to her room and have sex. Before they leave they agree to see each other and keep in contact. As soon as she returns home she calls her girlfriends to inform them about the excitement she had. Savannah had found out that Bernadine is with James and Gloria’s neighbor is getting friendlier. Savannah was going nuts waiting for Charles’ call. The week has past and she left a message on his answering machine but yet no return. She was feeling terrible and hated the feeling. She thought to herself that this would never happen again she wouldn’t be tempted so easy. She felt being single never hurt her so much.

I had this same problem but not so intense. I thought that I had met this really great guy when I went to California. He promised to call and keep in touch but that never happened. I was sad for a couple of days but got over it because I was kind of young when this happened. I still felt so bad for Savannah and hope she can pull through this.

Still Waves in It

Gloria is having some trouble with her shop. Desiree the hairdresser is thinking of quitting and Philip another hairstylist is still sick. Gloria is filled with too much appointments and is exhausted by the time the day is over. Savannah came to the shop for a cut but Gloria looked too tired. Gloria closed the shop and they went to dinner. At dinner Gloria talked about the problems in her life and was so tied up with things to do. Then she started talking about Marvin, the neighbor that moved in and how they haven’t done anything yet. When Gloria gets home Tarik is doing his homework in the kitchen and surprises her. Gloria then goes upstairs and thinks about her life, how lonely she will be when Tarik goes to college.

When I left Korea to go to College here I knew my mother was devastated. After I read this chapter I felt bad for my parents and had to give them a call. At first they were worried but then glad that I called out of the blue. They reassured me that everything was fine and I told them that I missed them.

Unreasonable Request

When Savannah got home she had two messages, one from her mother and the other from Kenneth. Savannah called her mother and was told that her sister had a baby boy. They talked and then the mother talked about if Savannah met a man yet. Savannah got irritated of her mother always asking and snapped. The mother apologized and just wanted her to be happy. Savannah reassured her mom that she was happy. Right before Savannah was about to pull the plug , Kenneth called on the other line. He wanted her to meet him in Palm Springs but Savannah refused. She told him that she was tired of this and for him not to call her until he divorced his wife. Savannah was finally happy and felt good about herself. I can totally relate to Savannah because my mother can get so irritating sometimes. She always gets into my business and asks so many questions. I guess that’s part of being a parent.

Friendship

Gloria was in the Hospital when she woke up. It seemed as though she had a clogged artery and had a heart attack. Marvin was the one hat gave her mouth to mouth and called the ambulance. Everyone was there comforting her making sure she was okay. When the doctor came in Marvin stepped up and said that he was the husband. She was glad that everyone she loved was at the hospital.

Being in the hospital is a very scary thing and especially for a heart attack. My uncle had a heart attack last year and we had to rush him to the hospital. The whole time I prayed that he would pull through and thank got he has a second chance. I was so happy that all her friends where there and including Marvin.

The Weight Of All Things

Robins father has just died and the grief of him acting like someone else is over. She’s caring Russell’s baby and is going to keep it. She doesn’t mind that he will not be there and although Michael says that he will be there for her she doesn’t love him.

I am actually proud of Robin. To think that she is willing to be a single-mother and be alone. I knew of one friend that is doing this now. To tell you the truth I see how difficult it is for her. I wish there was something I could do but don’t have the means. Everyday she pulls through and I think to myself I wish I was that strong.

Bernadine had just received the call from her lawyer telling her that she has just received nine hundred sixty four thousand. As soon as she was finished talking to her lawyer she called Savannah to tell her the good news. They made plans about the New year and that they were going to dinner.
