Creation Theory Essay, Research Paper
After debating all of the presented theories I have come to two realizations about
creation and the theories relating to it. My first realization was that I find the framework
theory the most likely of all the theories because it was the theory with the least holes in it.
My second realization was that if all of us agreed on the main points of Genesis( God created
the earth, all things are special to Him , He is sovereign over all things ,ect) then it really
does not make a difference how it was all brought about and I think that when we let the method
of creation block our view of what God intended for us to get out of the book then we are
missing the point by a vast margin.
The way I think that the earth was created is the same idea as in the framework theory.
I think that the Genesis account was written to let us know that God is in control of all things
and created the earth and everything on it. I believe this because of the evidence presented in
the fossil record and the general discrepancies in the genesis account . The sequence of the
days makes no sense to me (i.e.. plants created before the sun and birds before insects) and the
Genesis account states that all animals coexisted together for a time suggesting that dinosaurs
and man existed together when the fossil record shows otherwise. In my opinion the Genesis
account was written to show us our relationship with God and was by no means a scientific
account of the dawn of Earth.
I think that the earth is incredibly old , millions of years old to be precise. I think
this because I think that life was formed by God-guided evolution which would have taken millions
of years to achieve. Also the fossil records suggest a very old earth as well as the coral
formations we discussed in class. Some people argued that God created the earth to appear old
but I don’t believe that God would do that because it does not seem to be in his nature to
confuse us with concrete scientific evidence to test our faith. I prefer to believe that the
earth is as old as the scientific data , fossil records , and coral build ups suggest it is.
I believe that life was formed over the very long periods of time that are necessary for
the evolutionary process to take place.I take the evolutionists view of things here because I
believe that God created the earth through theistic evolution that would require a great deal of
time to produce the earth we see now and the complex organisms that created us . The points
where I disagree with evolution are that I think that it was not at all random, to us it appears
that way because we cannot predict it , but it was indeed guided by the hand of God. Also I think
that the points where the jump between one species and another ( i.e. a reptile with feather—>
a bird) was where God intervened and allowed the change to occur skipping the middle phases so
the new species would not be selected against.
I think that the fossil record , and carbon dating support my view of creation because
they all point to an old earth theory and an evolutionary creation. The fossil record is the most
outstanding evidence ,I think , due to the fact that it shows that the animals were not created
all together rather they were created and died out at different periods wich supports the
evolutionary theory. Carbon dating also supports the old earth theory because it has dated things
millions of years old but I do take into account the fact the it has also dated things that were
still alive as being thousands of years dead. The coral atolls also is a good piece of evidence
to support the old earth theory because the process to create the atolls would take incredibly
large amounts of time. All of these support the frame work theory rather well in my opinion.
Since I believe in theistic evolution I obviously believe that organisms have gone
through massive amounts of micro and macro evolution. The evolution theory states all life came
from one organism so I believe that life has been steadily evolving for millions of years to
reach it’s current state . Microevolution occurred in species naturally due to climate difference
and need and we see evidence of microevolution today so I believe that happened a great deal in
the evolutionary process. Marcoevolution , I believe , was when God intervened and bridged the
gap between species and created a new species so that evolution could continue. For example at
one point there is a lizard that has feathers and kind of resembles a bird and then there is a
bird that kind of resembles a lizard. Science is yet to find where the link is formed but I
believe that God intervened at this stage of evolution and bridged the gap between the species .
I believe that macro and microevolution played large parts in the evolution of mankind and the
species of the earth.
In conclusion I think that even though this all makes sense to me that does not mean that
I’m right and have any right I look down on anyone else for believing otherwise because, in
truth, no one will ever know for sure , until we get to heaven , if we are right. Also I think
we need to keep in mind the things that really matter in the creation debate and that is that
God is sovereign and created everything and that he is in complete control of his creation.
